Ephesians 3:20 (The Message) says: “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!”
This Scripture sums up the year 2014 in the lives of those working on the movie “Ragamuffin: The True Story of Rich Mullins.”
Several years of research and filming at numerous locations culminated in a world premiere of “”Ragamuffin on January 9th, to a sold out house in the beautiful historic Orpheum Theater in Wichita Kansas, Rich’s adopted home.
Following the premiere, teams from The Color Green Films fanned out across the nation over four months, providing special screenings in theaters, churches, community centers and jails. By the date of the DVD release through an exclusive agreement with Walmart in May, the movie had shown in over 200 venues to nearly 200,000 people.
In July, “Ragamuffin” will be available in Christian bookstores across the country. Through arrangements with the producer, people continue to show the movie in addictions groups, therapeutic centers, churches and homeless shelters. Stories of lives changed, children and parents reconciled and prisoners finding hope pour in daily, proving anew that:
“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!

Hey! I could have sworn I’ve been to this website before but after browsing through
some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Nonetheless, I’m definitely glad
I found it and I’ll be book-marking and checking back frequently!

We just revamped the entire website, added digital copies of the Documentary and Canticle of the Plains, so there is a big possibility you have been here before and feel like its brand new… because it is. Thanks for the warm feedback!

Question…Do the Kid Brothers of St Frank still help Native American Children in the arts?

I was very ambivalent about the Ragamuffin Movie. It was very gripping, but the Rich Mullins I saw on the screen was a rude, self-centered, deeply melancholy fellow. I really feel in my heart that you guys went overboard with emphasizing Rich’s weaknesses, including his lack of interior knowledge of God’s love for him. Was he really that badly off all the time as depicted in the movie or was he also witty, charming and deeply in love with Jesus as his public persona showed us? I get that he wasn’t perfect–got that. But was he that badly off??? This is a serious question and not a criticism.

I completely agree with Steve and would love an answer to the question that he asked about constantly being that rude from those who knew him best presumably your fellowship of brothers. Was definitely wondering if this portrayal was accurate or jacked up to some measure for a more interesting character.

I totally agree with Steve too.

Do not know if this is still active, there is another one as well but here goes. I am a huge follower of Christ and of Rich’s life and music. I discovered him really by the DVD about his life but after so much listening to many of his concerts and music I am grieved by the movie. It was as if the people responsible were trying to paint him in a terrible light. So sad to see him so uncovered because His life was hid in Christ, as we all are who are trusting what He did to save us. I never saw him disheveled as he was portrayed and all the addiction stuff and neediness and weakness expressed, was totally uncalled for. I wish someone would make the redemption story for us all to rejoice in. His life was so amazingly one of God’s mercy, love and being a trophy of grace. He deserved respect and honor for a life worth lived, all for Jesus. Guess someone missed his Brother’s Keeper song. So very sad, Valerie

Rich Mullins is a total inspiration showing of Gods love and mercy. With the great talents and struggles he went through and yet his great devotion to God. What an awesome man! We are surely rag muffins but a great body of nuts and bolts can do great things with Gods guidance and help. I’ve learned this watching this movie and really doing a inward eval. I truly hope and pray that one day we all can become the nuts and bolts “the body” of the church and do great things for our communities, friends, and family. God bless everyone who reads this and all the friends and families of KidBrothers.org
Thank You.

I ordered the movie from Amazon — three times!! I ordered it the first time from Amazon marketplace to save some money. Shortly there after, I got two emails: one that gave a shipping confirmation and one that said my order was cancelled because there was a glitch in their system and they didn’t have the movie and my money would be refunded, blah blah blah….After confirming that I indeed wouldn’t be getting the movie, I went in for round 2. The exact same thing happened. So round three came around and I bought it directly from Amazon! I confess all the trouble it took to get the movie made me weary and I, at first, wasn’t even excited to see it anymore. But on the day I got it in the mail, I had had a lot happen medically and when it was in my mail box, I was actually surprised. I watched it!! The reality is I haven’t stopped watching it and I have had it for two weeks!! I won’t divulge the things that have happened in my life, my inner demons, my trying to clean myself up for God and “be good”. I have tried. I have failed!! There has been a lot of abuse in my family towards me and us towards each other. Now I work with women who experience some of the same things. I am single and have decided to remain that way although I know it will go against the popular church culture. I love Jesus!! I love the movie because it points me to a way of thinking and a way of life I have never known before. Thank you to all who have made it!! It’s precious!!

I’ve watched the movie four times now. I’ve always been impressed with the genius that Rich had with his writing and music, but, his most profound impact was with the lessons he would give inbetween the songs during concerts. I wish there were only a few dozen more recorded concerts of Rich. He was one of the deep thinkers of the day, and still a propos.

It is hard to believe that it is 2015 and I’m just seeing the Ragamuffin movie and falling in love with Rich and his music and more so in Jesus. I have watched on utube his concerts and interviews and music and can’t believe I never knew him even though I knew a lot of his songs and love them even more now!so sorry I never met him 🙁

I’ve watched the entire movie 3 times and bought 2 copies for gifts. I love the film. I did have the chance to spend some time with Rich and I thought the film was well done. Thank you for sharing it, even though it was a hard decision and hard work. This story is making a difference and his music means so much more to me now.

Wow! Just watched the Ragamuffin movie. Thanks for creating this movie to honor Rich. His music has meant so much to me, carried me through rough spots of life and brought me to greater songs of worship to our King. Thanks so much for showing Rich as real. It brings a reality and depth to my Christian walk. So encouraging to know that he and others struggle with the same issues as I do.
Manning blessings to all who made this.

Watched “Ragamuffin” on Amazon Prime and I am completely blown away that I never heard his name in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. God does indeed use distress and pressures to mold us, and while it’s discomforting, it just proves the faithfulness of God. Thank you Father for the life of Rich Mullins’ life!

Thank you for making this movie; Ragamuffin! I’m moved to the core and so grateful! Consequently, I am reading The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning for the first time. It’s all like finding clear, cool water in the desert. Is there a soundtrack available? Michael Koch did an amazing job. Is it possible for him and A Ragamuffin Band to record a studio version of the entire Jesus Album with the same depth and emotion he employed in his portrayal of Rich Mullins? Would you consider producing an album like that?
There is a cd of the album Songs in the player in my car. It has been there for two years. My granddaughter and I never get tired of it and we don’t want to listen to anything else. Thank you for giving us more of Rich Mullins through this movie! Thank you for introducing me to the words of Brennan Manning and, as a consequence, a new life in Christ. Thank you!

I also found the movie overly dark — I heard interviews where Rich said he lived a Normal Rockwell childhood but the movie made it seem his relationship with his dad (or lack thereof) caused deep and decades long issues. I heard Rich speak in an interview of his dad’s deepening faith as he grew older and the tenderness of finding his mom and dad just quietly holding hands out of the fray when he brought them to the Grand Ole Opry hotel for an awards ceremony. I wonder if the producer himself has father issues so wanted to make it an over-riding theme. I agree w the others about the notion he was always disheveled and apt to lash out. I don’t think he could’ve had a band hold together for as long as he did if this was accurate. Seems the movie went overboard on the dark stuff as if his life was decades of mental anguish and tortured relationships and addictions. Apparently he had some deep struggles — but a more balanced view of struggles amidst success would’ve been more believable and I suspect more accurate, and a more balanced view likely would’ve been more relatable to more people. This was a first movie for the producer/screen writer, his next film Brennan is more balanced of a person who was probably less balanced….

Nan, I totally agree with you as well. I wish the movie portrayed the amazing person that we have all read about, and heard speak in videos and interviews (for those like me who did not know him personally). We all struggle at times, we all fall short, just like Rich did. But as I have read about him and watched and listened to videos and concerts, he had the joy of the Lord as well. I wish another movie would be made about Rich, the wonderful qualities as well as struggles that he may have had. The movie in my opinion left a lot to be desired.
Nancy
A bit of a sad movie but being brought up in an abusive home it leaves a mark. He was tremendously talented but couldn’t deal with people telling him what to do, the movie made him out to be lacking social skills. Such a loss.
